    Are you kidding me? The best "bike culture" has to offer, and half of them are products with a shelf life of 5 minutes?

    What about social bike rides, as in Los Angeles' Midnight Ridazz? What about bike repair collectives which have sprouted up all over the country?

    This article is mostly about innovation in design. (Not to mention it's rather tongue-in-cheek altogether.)

    No doubt the initiatives you mention are all brilliant examples of social innovation – we're actually big proponents of bike-share programs and similar smart social initiatives we've featured before. This piece just has a lighter, more design-oriented focus.

    Bicycle lanes are kind of a two way street (no pun intended). They unfortunately typically get placed right next to parking, where an unobservant driver may open his door and provide an instantaneous wall for a poor biker. A true test of reflexes and brake pads.
